Midori Travelers Notebook

This little brown thing is my newest edition. Additional inserts are flying in from all around the globe (Japan + America) so it's not fully set up .. but I'd like to show you what I have going on so far.

If you are unfamiliar with the MTN, it's just a piece of leather with a string to hold inserts together. Simple, yet beautiful. The quality of leather is one I have not been able to find anywhere and so I took the $40 plunge and made the purchase! The only regret I have is getting rid of this baby a while back.

Free things. I LOVE free things. If it's free, most people ignore it. I in the other hand take one or even extras! The stickers you see were given or found. Everything besides the MTN itself and the polkadoted bags were purchased. There is nothing better than customizing your most cherished possessions with free stuff.

I'm excited to sync my Filofax notes into my notebook. There is so much of my brain that needs to be written down it's unbelievable. Things I want to see, do, experience, try, buy, etc. Lets face it, I have the memory of an elephant. My life NEEDS to be written down somewhere otherwise I will forget all details completely.

I'm not finished with my set up. As said before, I still need more inserts and am waiting patiently while I live next to my mail box. A video will be made soon (Man, I have missed making videos) to show you it's full beauty. Until then, be content with this.

Until next time,

Same As You

Darling, the world is yours. Your life is yours. I'll show you the beauty in run down apartments and the happy green grass after the rain has stopped. It's up to you to always remember, even in the darkest hours.

A Day With My Love

The day doesn't really start until Kayleigh doesn't want to get in the car because she wants to walk around.

95% of the reason we come here. Food!

I think they meant to say "Water."

Poor little guy. He looked exhausted (but still adorable.)

UNO! Not the game.

Scarbrough Fair + Dinner in Downtown Fort Worth + Coyote drive in movies.
It was an amazing day with my love. My favorite part? All of it.
He makes me so happy.

What's In My Bag

When other people pick up my purse for whatever reason, they swear I am carrying bricks. Well, they're close.

1. My Filofax. Usually a different one every other day (I have many.) It's of course used for planning and saving my notes as well as my credit cards and cash.

2. Hand bound journal. This little gem usually stays home on the weekends. During the week, I take it with me so I can pray and have my bible studies at work.

3. Orla Kiely bag. A gift from a special friend. It stays in my purse all day everyday since it carries my stickers, sticky notes, etc. You never know when inspiration will hit!

4. Pen bag. Also with me 24/7. I have a variety of pens and love each and every one. It's helped up well over the past few years and don't see myself buying a new one until I absolutely have to.

Other things I carry:
   - IPod
   - Glasses
   - Keys
   - Phone
Soon to be added to the mix: A Midori Travelers Notebook.

Till next time,

Fitness - Core Strengthening

Now that the spring semester has ended, I have been trying to get back into the routine of going to the gym. Gym time was put aside for Kayleigh time. Though well worth it, I've noticed some body fat attempting to join me on my summer time adventures. A giant no no in my book!

After two weeks of only cardio (30 min/3-4 times a week) I saw no difference. However, I knew better than to believe half an hour on the treadmill would make a radical transformation on my appearance. Lifting weights for me is scary & unknown and yet I knew that the idea could no longer be ignored nor avoided.

With little no knowledge on the matter, I contacted a church friend (leader of our health/fitness group) for some tips. Instead, I received a four week plan to strengthen my core! Once the four weeks are done with, a second plan (involving lifting and the use of equipment) will follow. Being a newbie, it has been difficult learning new things on my own as well as getting over the fear of being watched or judged on my lack of strength. Still, I am excited for what is to come. Hurray for healthy living!

Here is the plan:

First Week
1 set of 20 reps + 1 min jump rope + 30 cardio (5lb weights)

Second Week
2 set of 20 reps + 1 min jump rope + 30 cardio (10lb weights)

Third Week
3 set of 20 reps + 1 min jump rope + 30 cardio (15lb weights)

Fourth Week
4 set of 20 reps + 1 min jump rope + 30 cardio (20lb weights)

  • Stability ball squat
  • Back band row
  • Stability ball chest press
  • sit up or crunch (on ball)
This plan should be done 3x per week.

Park + Grub

Last Saturday we all took the longest nap of our lives (3-5hours), spent the evening at the park, and grabbed a bite to eat afterwards. The day ended with us watching Frozen until again it was time to lay our heads to rest.

Days like those are my favorite. Simple + full of love.

Birthday Boy

(Photo from Instagram: @alondrakayy)

This post is a bit overdue but that's no surprise. "You're always late!" is what you often say to me. Happy be-lated birthday my sweet, handsome man. God truly blessed me with an amazing gentlemen to love me and care for me the way you do. You, Timothy, are my other half and it is an honor to be growing old with you. My prayer is that all of your wishes come true and for the ones that don't, my prayer is that God will have something much greater in store for you.

I love you with all that I have. I am so lucky to be called your wife, your best friend.

Journals

There's something about a new, hand bound journal that I cannot resist. Especially one that only costs $12.95. They have so much character and are prepared to keep whatever your heart decides to write together and personal. I have loved them since I was a child and it will never end.

Let's see how much of my life can fit in this lovely writing tool.

Week 20

Man, what an incredibly long & busy week! I was so exhausted towards the end that I took a five hour long nap on Saturday. So glad it's almost over. Tonight we'll be celebrating hubster's birthday (though it's tomorrow.) Then it's time to prepare for another week, Lord willing.

I'll also start focusing a little more on my blog. I have a ton of things to share with you guys!
Till next time,

Enjoy The Day

If you know me at all, you know I have an agenda for every day (at times for every hour of the day!) It's a bit ridiculous because I am not God. I have no control of what may happen and trust me, I understand. About 99% of the time nothing ever goes as planned. Either someone gets sick, the alarm doesn't wake us up in the morning, or a little girl in pink wants to go outside and play when you have to shower, get lunch ready, clean, and get some laundry done. It's so easy to say 'no' because she is so young, she will not remember going outside and playing with dry dirt, weird shaped rocks, and the dead leaves that have fallen from the trees. But if life has taught me anything it's that not tomorrow, not even the next breath is guaranteed. And my 'to-do's' can always wait.

Go and enjoy life with your family.

Mother's Day Weekend

Friday: A sweet mother's day card from my pumpkin made at daycare.
A little shopping at Southlake Town Square & dinner with my husband and brother in law.

Saturday: Morning with my nuggets. Lots of laughs & cuddles. We also went to the mall for some food and more play time and later walked around the apartments. She LOVES walking outside.

Later, husband came home and took us to North Park Mall for some more shopping. This is all that I wanted.

Sunday: Church, of course. Then we found a little BBQ place to grab a bite to eat. We avoided large chain restaurants at all cost! Those places are crazy on Mother's Day.

Later that afternoon we visited both mamma's. First Timothy's mom and then mine. We were exhausted by the end of the day. Timothy said my last MD gift was going to bed early. Ha! Best gift anyone could ever give me.

Along with flowers, Timothy gave me a sweet, loving card and tickets to my favorite band, The Fray. I was one excited mama! However, it's never about the gifts. My favorite thing about this weekend was simply spending time with my family. That in itself is a blessing as I know not everyone can do the same for a variety of reasons. This was by far my favorite Mother's Day!

Till next time,
Alondra K

Week 19

Such a lovely week. It's Mother's Day today so i'm here enjoying this sweet day with my family. I want to thank all of you for your sweet comments on my pictures. I realize not everyone shares the same interests and passion for paper as I do, but I'm excited to see that I am not completely alone on this little obsession of mine.

Seriously, thank you guys.
Till next time,
